Wheel color choices
I grew tired of OEM silver and chrome wheels for our cars, specifically TA's.
I presently have a black 02 m6 TA, with the anniversary blue wheels. I had them painted a custom candy transparent blue. It was a saga getting the wheels off eBay and finding a paint shop that would paint them, and repair dents & rash. Three of the 4 paint shops I contacted told me it was impossible to find a paint code or the paint application method and declined to paint the wheels. The 4th paint shop I contacted, did it. I will try to post a pic later. After much discussion with the painter himself, he told me these specific anniversary wheels allow for proper paint adhesion. He told me a regular chrome would take the paint, but he thought they would peel or flake in a few months, due to they are a mirror like finish.
With all that said, the wheels he painted for me, the paint is House of Kolor Oriental Cosmic Blue - Candy. Four layers of blue and 2 layers of clear. He matched the paint color himself. The wheels basically look like blue chrome. That's the best color description, and in the sunlight, are a sight to behold.
I have recently acquired a 2nd full set of the anniversary wheels, which I intend to have painted, but I am thinking of a color other than blue.
My other TA, an 02 Pewter A4, came with aftermarket black and aluminum wheels. This car replaced my 94 LT1 TA. Too many opti issues.
Any opinions on colors ?
