How to clean black ccw centers?
How to clean black ccw centers? I recently just got a heck of a deal online on some ccws. They where off a racing c5 old style ccw classics. Was told 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rears. What I'm wondering is how do you guys clean the centers off these wheels? Since they feel like thick kind of coating paint not powder coated look type of finish. Here's some pics of them.

CCW usually anodizes the centers. These look like anodized black obviously with some age on them. You can separate the centers and paint them. I think they always look amazing in a racing gold finish. You could always power wash them with a mild detergent before hand. The anodizing is pretty stout. I used a metal sealer on the wheel hoops to aid in keeping them clean.

I have the "shot peened" centers as well. Although they clear anodized mine. If i had to do it all over again i would do the gold anodized finish but thats just me. I would give them a call on how much to do the centers in the color of your choice just so you know what you are looking at budget wise.
If you separate the wheels you would only have to send in the centers to be painted and that would save you some in shipping cost.

Well I sprayed the centers with some autodip supposed to be gloss but didn't turn out as glossy but still atleast look alot better. Just gotta clean up the nuts and bolts to reassemble the wheel then do the rest of them.

Looks like somebody already "attacked" them with a harsh, chemical based cleaner. I had a set of those wheels, a number of years ago. I had the anodized centers powder coated black on top of the black anodization, in case the powder coat got chipped, it would still show black.
