spacers or no spacers?

that would require me changing to longer wheel studs which I have no desire to do for the time being..
I may get new front hubs in the future so maybe I will do it then

for the record, you can absolutely run 5x120 (BMW) lug pattern on these cars, it is within the factory tolerances. lots of guys run them without issues

really? everything I've read online states to stay away from 5x120 because of sever speed vibration above 65mph. but if that is not true then I need to retract my previous statement.

The issue with the OEM BMW wheels on a GM from what I've seen is the pressure the lugs put on one side of the hole is slightly higher, and the taper on the lug bolts of a BMW lug bolt and wheel is not exactly the same as the US build hub, so occasionally they crack or distort the wheel. The BMW wheels are tight hub centric. The upside is if they are the real OEM BMW wheels they are usually forged and relatively light weight. Now if they are aftermarket wheels ,, all bets are off.. 
You can get H&R spacers that will hub center the wheel, on the spacer and the spacer on the hub.

For reference. 18x8.5 56mm offset with 1 inch front spacer and 1.25 rear spacers
And this weekend it got swapped to the 5x120 aftermarket BMW wheels in 29mm offset in 17x8 and I took off the spacers. Have no issues with this pattern using hubcentric rings and taking time to torque properly. Smooth as silk down the road.
