Default Need help with Tire Selection

I have the Boyd Smoothie II 17x8 and 17x10 set-up...I am running 245/45/17 in front and 285/40/17 in the rear.....Right now my *** end sits alot higher due to my tire selection... I want to go with 315/35/17 Nittos in the rear....Can anyone tell me what a good front tire size would work on a 17x8 that would help me to lower my *** end.....Also give me advice on which lowering springs would work with my combo and not make it look like a 70's camaro....All help is greatly appreciated....thanks

John

Well, just switching from 285/40/17 (26.1") to a 315/35/17 (25.7") is going to lower it almost a half inch. Springs are a greatly debated topic. It all depends on your preference, how low you want to go, and how much you want to spend. I have BMR 1" progressive rate springs. The bad thing about progressive springs is that it's hard to get a shock properly valved due to the spring rate constantly changing. Eibach Pro-kit is nice because it is linear in the front, but I hate how almost every rearend sags with Eibachs. IMO, a very nice setup is the Ground Control coil over kit because it offers adjustable ride height and your choice of spring rates. It is a little more expensive, but worth the cost, to me. I suggest calling Sam Strano and discussing your needs with him. www.stranoparts.com

Shocks are a must in my book when doing springs. Depending on your needs I would look at Bilstein HD's, Re-valved Bilsteins from Strano, or Hal QA1's.

Yep. Factory height is 25.7" so the 315's will work nicely height-wise.
