Question 315/35r17 size differences between current brands

Hello,

Between the current brands available, who knows how they run in size and compare to each other:

Nitto NT05
Nitto NT555 G2
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3
?????

Thanks!

All I know Is that the GSD3 is the widest of all, but the most expensive I believe. I’ve been wanting to compare them to the mickey thompson since the price is really good. Seen the sumitomo in person and super thin.

Thank you for your response. Good input. I knew the sumitomo ran small. Any others run smaller? Like to find a good quality smaller running 315 if its out there...

The sumitomo are the only one I’ve seen on a 11” in person, they look just like any regular 275. I did see the gsd3 on a 9.5 and obviously didn’t look good but even on the size wheel they still looked super wide.

I just measured my sumitomos and they are about 12 1/2 inches wide sidewall to sidewall so they're not THAT thin. That's fully inflated. I think the only thing narrower is nitto but I'd be curious to see how big gsds are

I'm looking at tire racks specs right now. The section width is measured from inner sidewall to outer sidewall at its widest point

Sumitomo 12.6"
GSD3 12.3"
Toyo Proxes TQ 12.6"

Apparently the Sumi is wider? lol

I had 315/35r17 Nitto 555R Extreme Drag's installed in September. They replaced a pair of 285/40r17 Nitto 555 G2 summer tires. The 315 555r's are only a touch wider than the 285 Nitto G2's. These are on a 10" wheel and look perfect.

On a previous car I had 315/35r17 555's (not the drag radials) and they were much wider than the 315 555R's.

From what I gathered, the 555R is the only narrower 315/35R17 Nitto sells. All the others models fit like traditional 315's so you will definitely need a wider wheel.

Well, I'm not really looking for a drag radial. Based on what you guys know, how about the NT05's? I'd actually prefer a "narrower" 315 to limit rubbing. Based on what I've read, it seems the G2's are closer in size to the GSD3's...

Thank you!

I've been told the BFG Rivals are very wide for being a 315. I know not on your list.

That's great info, but I was hoping to find out about more than how just those two compare. The Sumo's have poor reviews and the GSD3 is expensive and looks like a bear to get to fit/look right.

Any input regarding the NT05? or NT555 G2? or Toyo Extensa HP" or Mickey Thompson Street Comp?

Thank you!

I have just replaced a set of Sumitomo HTR with Nitto 555 G2. 275/40/17 on the front and 315 /35 /17 out back. The Nitto's are no louder than the Sumitomo's. The ride is slightly better and the fit is perfect. Im happy with them. Order online to my door $730. Could have found them cheaper probably but I do have a road warrenrty with them Im at stock ride height only because the car has SLP long tube headers. Ground clearece is maybe 4in off the ground. Maybe Santa will bring me some new headers, true duals, lowering springs and shocks! Or Ill hit the lottery. Hope this helps!

I had found Toyo's online and im happy with them so far. Good speed, treadwear and temp rating and its def a meaty tire. I believe cheapest I saw pair online for was like 330ish plus taking them somewhere for mount and balance. Local shop ordered me matching 275 40 for front for 730 out the door, free flat repairs, rotate and balance(they said they would take off rim to go side to side because directional) so I think it was a decent deal. I just couldn't hack new wheels bc I am not a huge torque thrust fan but I love these big tires

Which Toyo's? I think I'm between the Nitto NT05 and Toyo R888r... Curious how those 315's overall with compare...

Thanks
