Wheel Fitment Gurus
- I need center hub spacers/adapters, which are $15 for a set of 4 (not sure about this)
- front wheels would be a 35 offset
- rear wheels would be a 22 offset
When it comes to wheels and tires, I get lost with offsets, bolt patterns, etc. How accurate is this information to achieve the "look" I am going for?
Input is appreciated.
As for the front wheels, a +35mm offset on a 9.5" wide wheel would probably, in fact, put the wheel itself quite flush with the fender lip. However, unless you are planning on a "stretched" tire size, you may find that the tire will stick out a bit from the fender lip (or at least I would expect this to be the case on a Camaro - I'm not sure if the Trans Am fender extends to exactly the same spot at the center top).
For example, on my '98 Camaro I used to have 17x9.5" wheels with a +46mm offset, and with a 275/40 tire size the tire was exactly flush with the fender lip at it's furthest extension point. I actually tried a 285/40 tire at one point just to see how it would fit, and this tire noticeably stuck out beyond the fender lip at the top center (plus made significant contact with the lower lip during steering, thus could not be used regardless of aesthetics). So the wheel you have suggested will stick out 11mm further than the 9.5" wide wheel that was on the front of mine, thus you will have to be careful with tire height and width if you wish to avoid any lower lip contact (when turning) as well as keeping the tire inside of (or flush with) the top center of the fender lip.

Make sure your custom wheels will be able to clear your front brakes if they are upgraded (or plan to upgrade).

When I upgraded my front brakes to 6 Gen Camaro brembos, the Fikse's didn't not fit unless I added 15mm spacers. I installed longer wheel lugs and the spacer but this caused the wheels to have a wider track compared to the rears which made it look funny.
The adjustable upper control arms allowed me to bring the wheels back to where I wanted them and looked great once again.
