Need help with my tire NEEDS
Need help with my tire NEEDS So.... many may already know that I am basically replacing everything in front of my bell housing, and plan on some kind of supercharger one day. 1999 Trans Am.
How much traction do I actually need? The NA build is expected to be around 700 BHP. Built T56 + Dana 60, that should mean right around 600 RWHP (I am guessing 615). I would guess that is going to be at least 500 RWTQ. Down the road, I intend to add a Magnuson or a Centrifugal supercharger, so that would be flirting with 1000 BHP and 850 BTQ.
The question is: How wide do my tires need to be to hold, lets say, 800 RWTQ (I prefer to do things once)? I do not want to worry about the tires spinning at all (On a prepped track: 3000 RPM clutch dumps. On a proper street: ease into it, floored by 3k).
I am pretty certain that street radials are out, even the 16" wide Mickey Thompson roadster tires. I currently have 315/35R17, and I do not like how far the tires stick out from the wheel well, so I bought a Wolfe mini-tub kit a long time ago.
