How to figure wheel backspacing
So let's say I got 17x9.5 with a 5.5" BS and want to go to a 17x10 wheel, is it just that easy to add another half inch to the backspacing?? So the 17x10 would have a 6" BS??
Trying to wrap my brain around things and some of the stuff I've found online are a little confusing
Thanks guys.
Backspacing is from where ever your offset point is to the very edge of the wheel.... usually around 1/2 in. past where the tire bead seals.

there’s several wheel offset calculators online you can Google and play around with offset and backspacing accordingly to get the fitment you’re looking for while measuring with a wheel you know the specs of on the actual car. So if you know you want the wheel 1” further out or 1” further in or 1” wider with the same or whatever you can basically figure it out.
a wheel almost always measures 1” wider than its stated width because wheels are measured to tire bead to bead. Therefore a 9” wheel will actually measure 10” from edge to edge, but only 9” where the tire bead sits. Factor this in when measuring
