question about wheel studs???

question about wheel studs??? ok. recently I put new prostars on my car.....and when doing so, I installed the longer ARP studs with open ended lugs.
these studs do not extend far enough to go completely through the open ended stud.
ive seen pics on here of studs that go all the way through (and they look larger in diameter)
my question is.....what kind of studs are these....where do I get them.....and how do they install?
do they just press in like the ARPs or do I have to get the axles and hubs machined to take screw in studs?
and if I do, can you just tap the axles and hubs while they are still on the car?
