Default New Rubber For 95 TA

I was just looking for ideas on what kind of tires to get for my stock 95 Trans Am. The car goes to the track and will have more work done to it over the winter while its in the garage. I still want it to have good street manners but also want good grip when the mods go on. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

BFG KDs are a good all around tire for everyday driving, great in the rain, good dry traction, etc. They are not Nitto DRs which are good tires, I just couldn't afford to go through a set every 3 months. You could always get a second set of stock rear rims and drag tire those for the weekends, track, etc. Be careful with BFG Drags or Nitto DRs in the rain, expecially after they get a little worn, you'll be driving way slower than with decent all around tires.

I always wanted to try the Firestone Firehawk SZ50's. Or something like that anyways. They are supposed to have good all around traction in the rain and in the dry. Only about $100 each for 16". When I was looking at them, they rated better than the BFG KD tires.

I love my SZ50's. They're on 17x9.5 wheels, though.

Tire choice is very subjective. Your driving style is the key deciding factor.A lot of people are more concerned with straight line traction, so they go DR's out back. Others, like me, like an all around performer. My 25 mile commute is full of nice twisty roads...
I've had people highly recommend Kumho's, and I tried them. I think they suck. They are the only tire I've driven in years that let go completely on me with no warning. On my son's car they work fantastic, which leads me to believe a 4th gen is too heavy for them.
I know people with similar driving style as me and they love the BFG KDWs. My favorites have been Potenza RE730's (discontinued) and the SZ50 EP I currently run.

I pulled 1.91-2.01 60 foot times on stock wheels with the Potenza's and they were awesome on the road wet or dry.

Figure out what your main driving style is, and talk to folks who drive like you do. That's the best way to narrow your search.
