Kumho Ecsta MX's

anyone have these tires and how do you like them?

if so, where did you purchase them and approx. how much did you end up paying for them?

thanks

tirerack.com.....discounttiredirect.com....they are really cheap and wear fairly quickly...but they are a good budget tire...don't expect extreme traction though...haha

silver30th Feb 22, 2005 10:22 PM

from what tirerack's price was, i didnt think they were all that expensive...guess it shows ive never really had to buy new tires before

sorry man i changed the post...i thought i was looking at the gsd3 post right below this one...oops...:bang:...anyhow these are what most people will run on the fronts when they have a 17x9.5 17x11 combo set of wheels...usually a nitto drag radial in the back and these up front...so they obviosuly aren't too bad...i know i have had a couple sets and they wore really fast...so make sure you keep the air pressure up and check it from time to time...my front tires wore out fast when i found out that they air pressure was a little low...

Awesome tires.

They will give about the most dry grip of any "max performance" tire on the market at the moment, and cost much less.

I've used them as my roadcorse tires on my M3 and they have close to the amount of grip you'd find with some of the harder compound R-compound tires (ie, Yoko A032r).

Highly recommended. :drive:

dangit i screwed up agian...haha i thought you were talking about the supra 712's...i really don't know much about the mx's sorry about that...i've heard that they are better than the 712's but nothing spectacular like the gsd3's

V-10 Killer Feb 22, 2005 10:52 PM

I love mine. I'm running 295/35/ZR18's on back with a few suspension mods, and I'm pulling 1.79 60' times. And I really feel they have more in them. They're wearing pretty good considering the number of track burnouts I've put on them....

They are better than GSD3's in the dry. I've driven on both.

In the wet, i'd give the nod to the GSD3's though.

Just look at tirerack's tests, the MX's are basically on top of most of their tests.

777 Feb 22, 2005 11:26 PM

hmm i heard that they weren't all that from someone....i thought it was xsta z28 but i don't remember...i have heard nothing but praise from the gsd3's though...they are big money though

I liked my MX's. They are a great tire for the money. Just slightly less grip the the much higher$$$ tires. If you gotta have max grip at any cost, MX's aren't your tire. If you want a very good tire that works well dry and wet and rides well, then these are a good choice.

I like my MX's. They are an extremely cool looking tire :hail: Got mine from a local tire dealer, about $850. Pics on Cardomain site.

i bought a set of kumho ecsta 712 i paid $72 a piece for them i ordered them from tire rack .com it took about 3 days to get here they will come from indiania they were 275/50/16 i love them

Pacman Feb 23, 2005 01:45 PM

I have Kuhmo MX in 285/40/17. For some reason tirerack sells the 285 less that the 275. I paid $135 for the 285 per tire before shipping. I think the GSD3 was near $200

I've had these tires on my car for several months. IMO they are the best bang for your dollar. Handling and dry/wet traction is much improved over the F1s. I dont see the D3 being much better than the MX. The GS-D3 were just too expensive and I felt like GY didn't deserve my business considering the crappy F1s that came with the SS.

Great rire for the money. Dry grip is great, wet, I can't comment, my ride is afraid of the rain. The tares are a bit loud and heavy. Took quite a bit a weight to balance them.

For the money I can't complain, but I won't buy them again.

MX is an excellent tire! Great Dry Grip and they are excellent in the rain. I was totally impressed while on the Power Tour when we got caught in the rain for 3 days and they stuck very good even at excessive speeds. :secret2:

i like my MXs.
they seem too hook pretty well, and were reasonably priced ($680 shipped from tirerack.com).

Bad Blu Formula Feb 25, 2005 11:12 AM
