Default 315/35/17 Dry Wet Problems?

Is anyone having traction problems w/ their 315/35/17's-Specifically Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 and BFG KDW's. I've heard some things that the 275/40/17 tires get better traction and cornering capabilities, but am unsure because of mixed reviews.

Anyone who can provide info please do so ASAP.

Thanks,
Adam

I had 315 nittos on my car and never had any issues as far as rain goes. Never drove it in the winter-snow. But even in cold weather it was ok. I think you'll be fine cuz the tires ur looking at have better tread/directional than drag radials.

My concern isn't rain. It's dry traction, I really do not want any tire spin at all-My stock rims will be used for that. Nittos and BFG DR's will stick w/o any problems because of their designs, but the Dry/Wet tires are a whole different ball game.

Thanks for the response none-the-less, Nittos will be a last resort (don't have the money to replace tires alot)

Anyone else TTT?

you'll replace bfg dr's alot faster than nittos with my experience. If its dry u want than go with the bfg's but they'll be gone fast.

My concern is the Dry Traction of the Dry/Wet Tires-this car is my daily, and will see track time, but I do not want Dry only tires because I do not have money to replace Drag Radials of any kind. I need excellent wet traction which I am sure these both tires will supply. I know these two tires are top notch, and will hook well at the stock tire size, I'm hoping that the larger rears are AS good if not better then stock size.

Sorry if I had not clarified this in my Original Post. TTT

Thanks
Adam

my sumitomos are great in dry/wet weather, not sure about the Bfg's in that size but as long as your a smart driver in bad weather you should be fine.

GSD3's are some of the best tires you can get for the money, with the mods you have, if you heat them up, you shouldn't have any problems.

Unfortunately, I doubt that you are going to get the type of traction you are looking for with a regular radial. The wide tire is also going to make it more difficult in rain or cornering. There really isn't a tire that offers the best of both worlds. However, I daily drive on 315 Nitto Drag Radials. They offer pretty decent dry traction and as long as you know how to keep your speed under control, they are okay in wet weather. I have had my Nitto's on the car for over a year and they still do just fine, although they are getting a bit unsafe in the rain. You have to decide which is more important to you IMO.

I have 315 gsd3's on theback and 275's on the front. the stick like glue in corners. my suspensions is set up for cornering. I have the same hp figures with a 12 and 410's a 6m car. i can break them loose in first or second from roll just stepping on it. not sure of rain yet, but form what i have heard gsd3's are the best. A wider tire wiill tend to hydro more than a skinner tire but they sure look good. in the dry i can tell ya i am a happy camper.

I have 315 GS-D3's on the rear and have no traction problems wet or dry with normal driving.

GS-D3 is probably one of the best all around *safe* tire excellent traction in the rain and ok dry traction.

Nittos is what I would recommend because you said your main concern was dry traction. You can expect about 10-15k of out them and generally run around $400 for two

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 are alot higher quality than the 555's
KD's arent too good wet though

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP

the gsd3 actually has a higher rating than any of the other tires

I have the 275/315 combo GS-D3's on my '02. Dry traction is top-notch, although I don't have to drive very long to heat them up (I live in Phoenix). They definitely have more stick than the Ecsta MX tires I used to use. On warm days I noticed it takes more pursuading to kick the tail out. On those days I also have to do a clutch drop to smoke them. I can't do it from a rolling start.

Oh, and I can go faster in wet weather with these than I could with the stock RS-A's in the dry. Definitely a plus.

Soudns sweet! Oh, and FYI: Stock tires if I am not mistaken on all F-bods were Goodyear Eagle F1 GS (all season) The Vette recieved Goodyear Eagle F1 RS-A's. Also you said "Clutch drop" nothing wrong w/ that however most on here will say "clutch dump" or "dump the clutch" I am not correcting you to be an *** or anything jsut trying to help ya out a lil bit, I kinda feel dumb actually correcting you cuz your entire post is easily understood.

Thanks
Adam

P.S. Come on how many more have we got on here?
