Rim Size V. Performance
I know that 20's or even 19s will slow you down in a straight line and in braking, but Ive also heard that they can help your handling.
How do bigger rims help your handling?
Seems to me theyre just more weight, worse gear ratios, and a higher center of gravity.

i guess it depends on the weight of the wheel. On my last car i bought rims for it, and the rims with yokohama avs es100s where lighter than the stock wheels by themselves with no tires. i do beleive that there is a benefit in bigger rims but probably no more than one or two inches bigger than stock.

I can't imagine why bigger diameter rims would help your handling. Maybe wider or stickier tires, but moving the mass of the rim further and further out can't help anything I don't think.

I've had a 17x9.5/18x10.5 Polished Z06 combo on my car with 275's and 295's and now I have 17x9.5/17x11 Black ZR1 combo with 275's and 315's. My 11" are heavier than the 10.5's, but the 295's weighed more than the 315's did, so I'm saving weight there.
I did however notice a decrease in acceleration when I had my Z06's on, but with my 315's I notice that my car seems to corner a little better.
Bigger wheels = heavier = sacrifice acceleration/braking. Wider wheels/tires IMO help out more with handling.
