Silver Bullet 98

I was coming back home today with my parents in my mothers 2001 Mercedes E430. After about 175 miles down I-75, the left front tire blows. This is the second tire on my moms car that has blown and has had the same outcome on each tire, explosion on the inside of the wheel. My question is, are these tires great for long distance driving, or do they need to be replaced anytime soon? My mom plans to buy Michelins for all the corners tommorow and she wanted to know if she should just use the Kumhos for spares...
