Default Grind?Will they Fit?Backspacing?

-REAR-
Just ordered 275/60/15 MT Drag Radials and need to know if I should run a 10" wide or a 8" in wide Weld Prostar? Also need back spacing on either the two and will I need to grind my brakes? I read that I will not have to cut my rear bumper to run these, is this true, and I do have Adj. LCA's. I was running 315's on 11" wide Zr1's so I already rolled my fender lip and did the BFH Mod.

-Front-
If I run 15x3.5 up front in a Weld Prostar, what backspacing. Also, was looking at running a 26" tall front tire. Was told not to mix a bias front w/ radial rear tire, so which MT front tire do I get. This will be a track car and a weekend cruiser. Would a 15x4 be better????

You will have to grind your calipers to fit the Prostars. Not really sure about your other questions.

They will fit on 15x10s and look pretty nice too but you could do 15x8s if you want. 15x10" you want a 7.5 BS and 15x8s you want a 5.5 BS. Since you have ground effects you are going to have to do alot of cutting. More than likley, the end of the ground effects that wrap around into the wheel wells will have to be cut off completly and the bumper will have to be trimmed in the area. Do you really need 28" tires with you set up? It would be much easier to go with 275/50/15s if you think that they would work with your set up.

I believe the 15x3.5 need a 1.75" BS but I would do a search to conferm that. For fronts, alot of people use generic 165R15s that you can get for $30 a peice (they are about 25.5" tall). But if you want the M/T Sportmans you really need the 8 plys and they are heavy as hell, I think I recall hearing 23lbs a peice.

BTW: Don't by the Weld lugs, they rust between the lug and washer. Get some Excaliburs or McGaurds.

Here's what your rear calipers will look like.

i know a 8" rim with 5.5" bs is typically what fbody guys run...but if the 10" rim is 7.5" bs, why wouldnt the 8" rim be 6.5" bs? i have 10" rims and 7.5" bs. if i went to an 8" rim with 6.5" bs, that would take 1" off the outside, and 1" off the inside. just seems like 5.5" bs would create too wide of a stance...i like my tires tucked in. maybe they dont even make a 8" rim with 6.5" bs so i should be quit now.

the 275-60-15 works better on an 8" rim than it does on a 10" rim. it looks better on a 10" rim because it looks more meaty. but that rim is a little too wide for them too work best. dont get me wrong, they will still work GREAT on a 10" rim, just work better on the 8. clearance with that tire wont be an issue. i have 275-50-15 mt dr's on a 10" rim and they work great. unless youre making mad power, that would be my choice.

Ok, about these generic 165R/15's, where can I find them. I didn't realize that the sportman fronts where so heavy and 40 bucks more a tire then I would have to spend. Also, I'm kinda stuck w/ the 28in. tire, cause I was told it would fit and ordered it already. About not needing all the tire, I'm setting up a 9in. w/ 4.10's and enough spray to run high to mid 10's on almost full weight. Plus, I figured the extra height wouldn't hurt running a 4.10 gear either.

get the 10" rims. the tires will still work great, and look better. then if you wanna go with a slick, the 10" rim will be better.

Tire rack has some Kumaho 165R15s. Or you can just get some locally (don't say your putting them on an f-body though).

Once you get everything done I would really appreaciate it if you could PM or email me some pics of the rear tires. I'm probrably going to have to go with 28s next year and I'm not looking forward to the trimming.

GM Muscle - Will do, Hopefully I can play around w/ it and keep trimming to a minimum. If it makes u feel any better, the reason I'm running prostars is because of ur car. Looks good man, just hope mine turns out like yours.

GM Muscle: Also, w/ that qa1 shocks out back, did u need to buy a mounting kit that I have heard about or did u just buy a bolt and put them on. Also, do they lower the stance of the car at all. I have the R-Series QA1 shocks if that matters.

Thanks for the compliments. I was just out scraping rubber off my car and I got to looking. If your car is about as low as mine you really might not have to do a ton of trimming. With the suspension unloaded the tires would hit, but with the car sitting low, the clearance shouldn't be to bad.

My LCAs and PHB is are from BADZ, probrably the same as yours since he sels on ebay too.

The "R" series on the front are direct bolt ons and you can adjust the stance however you like with them. You will need lower mounting hardware for the rears. A couple of grade 8 nuts and bolts, and also some washers to space the lower part of the shock away from the rear end housing. You didn't buy "R"s for the back did you?

not sure, it looks similar to a stock setup. I betting it is, I never even checked because I was told you needed a seperate bracket to install these. Check this post out and see if u can help me out. Also, there is a pic of my car now, it is TALL again, stock springs w/ a half a coil cut off, but when I'm done figuring out this problem from the link I'm giving, I will take more out of the back so it is a lil lower and adjust the front.

Those rears are a direct bolt in. Liek I said though, you will have to space them away from the rear alittle.

Not sure what the problem is in the front. Somethings not right.
