Default Help mounting tire

this is a good one. I have stock 01 SS wheels and just got BFG g-force KDW's just like came from the factory (as an option). Three of them popped on easy. The third will not pop. I have taken it to two places with no luck. The 1st tire got torn a bit because they could not get it on. They ordered a new tire and they cannot get it on either. The origional tire pops on with just 35 psi. They have taken the new one up to 130 psi and it will not pop.

I am not sure what to do now. Any ideas???

It sometimes helps to rotate the tire on the wheel and lube the crap out of it with silicon paste. Then you can just fill the tire up with a high psi, and just let it sit for a while, sometimes they will eventually pop on their own. The highest I have ever went was about 90 psi on my own car, and that was pretty scary. If you take it to a wheel specialty shop, sometimes they have a cage and a really long air nozzle for the stubbron tires.

There is a bead setter called the cheatah, it takes two people to use it. What you do is get the tire on the rim. Fill the cheatah up with air, have one person push up on the tire. Then the other personopens the valve on the cheatah and it puts about 75psi in the tire in about a 1/2 second. Of course when using it be extremely careful, it is very dangerous.

the SS rims have this lip on the inside that keeps on catching the sidewalls... it was very difficult, had to just keep airing them up... lubed them up too

Hmmm, I have taken it to three places now. They all have failed. The last place (very reputable) lubed the hell out of it, pushed it to 110psi and pounded it with a mallet. No luck. They recommended some place with a cage. They danger is that the wheel could break.

I am stuck now. Maybe Costco will take all of them back and I can get those new wheels and wider tires I have been wanting.

Any other suggestions?

ok i worked in a tire store for 2 for a long time and if all those other suggestions didnt work try mounting it up as best as possible with say 60 psi in it put in on the car (front would be best more wieght) and just drive real slow in the parking lot of the tire store. iv had some hard to seat beads before but it was nothing that alot of lube and 90 psi couldnt fix

1BAD, we tried that too.

They finally got it. Tons of lube, mixed with WD40 and pumped pretty high. It finally popped. A total of 3 shops and 7 hours to get one tire mounted. Pretty scary.

thanks for the suggestions!
