Question about curb rash
Question about curb rash To bend a rim, do you have to hit a curb pretty darn hard? I ran over a curb today with one wheel going less than 5mph, and was wondering if it was damaged at all

Did you look at the wheel? Did you just brush against it or actually go up on it and drop off? If you just brushed it you probably scraped it up but most likely didn't bend it. Look at it and see if it looks bent or not.
If you realy need to know take it off and take it in to a tire shop and have it checked. Or at least you can jack the car and put a fixed pointer-referance poit next to the lip and slowly rotate the wheel and see how it tracks next to the pointer. That should give you a good idea if it is bent.
5 mph is actually pretty fast to be hitting the curb, thats if its directly toward the curb. if you were at an angle or parallel it would be less. but if you brushed up against it you can pretty much guarantee that a wheel will be a little scratched up. the lip can be bent also depending on angle and you dont have to be going fast, but to bend a rim badly ("Taco" a rim) you have to really be moving, or the curb has to be high, you'd know though because the tire would probably blow.
