A lot of reading there. I would think that the 96 would be the same as my 01. On mine the stock BS is 7.5 The less/lower the BS the farther the wheel sticks out, so if you want it out farther you could go with a 5" BS. I am going with the Centerline Convo Pros in the near future. They have a 5" BS but I have a narrowed rear (2.5" on each side)

yeah, i understand the whole backspacing thing, just hoping that someone had done a swap and knew what bs would be ideal for the look i want. like i said, has a 6 " now and the wheels are tucked under too much. jus don't wanna go too far and have it look stupid. thinking maybe keep the 6 but go to 9.5 wide to bring them out a little more.
