Drag Radial Dry Rot
I was currently away with the army and when i returned home I found that my pops had put my nitto d/r`s in the shed. They only had about 2 passes on them but i also had a new set of regular 17`s that have dry rot is there a way to tell if the drag radials have it so i dont kill myself on the track with them ? Im really not sure what dry rot looks like on a tire period but they were in the shed for about 9 months......

Were they laying on the sidewall or on the tread? Were they mounted to a rim?

Typically 9 months of a brand new tire sitting isn't long enough for any significant dry rot. The outer surface of the tread is probably hardened from sitting, but a good burnout will clean that right off. I'd look at the corner of the tires, especially in the grooves between the tread blocks where the tread meets the sidewall. If there is any dryrot, you will see cracks in the rubber at this location. But, as I said, for the time you were gone, I wouldn't hesistate using them. I've had firehawk sz50's sitting for over 2 years and still put them on the car and used them around town and what not.
