Powdercoat Alum wheels
Powdercoat Alum wheels Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has clear coat powder coted there alum wheels. Reason being is my stock WS-6 wheels are flaking a bit so I was gonna have them sand blasted, then polish them, and then take them to get powderdoated. The only thing is I know that polished aluminum tends to fog up during weather change or over time. So by doing this do you think they will stay in good shape or change? Let me know what you think
I powder coated my TTIIs and they are aluminum. I'm guessing you want to clear the wheels using a powder coat? Once you clear the wheel it will not shine the same. It will look dull like the wheel looked stock. I would strip the clear and just polish the wheel.
It won't shine as much though.
There is another clear that I've HEARD works well but the only place that I know that does it is in Cali. It is a special prosses and you have to have a small electrical current going to the wheel... At least it was something like that. I'll look for the info and post it up

cool thanks. So what your your sayin is they use a smart electrical current like they do when dipping chrome. Yeah my brother did a very smart thing but he has chrome wheels. What he did was had the wheels powdercoated clear so it keep a extra hard coating and protects the wheel from chipping so it will last longer.
Ok I found the info and the coating is actually a ceramic clear coating. THe company is Specialized Coatings. I just wonder how much it costs. they say they can clear just about anything including plastics
