painted brake calipers i want to get my brake calipers painted can you paint them yourselves and do you have to get a heat resistant paint or do you need to take them and get them done somewher if someone could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated
Just use a high temp paint, you can buy it at an auto parts store. Take the calipers off and CLEAN THEM WELL, I used a wire wheel which made them pretty much shine. The cleaner the caliper the better the paint will come out. After spraying them how you like I'd let them dry overnight at least. 1-1.5 cans of paint can do all 4 calipers
Yup, I painted my calipers blue with the Dupli-color 600 degree paint I think it was. I also painted my rotor with the Dupli-color 1200 degree Aluminum paint. The caliper brackets are somewhat polished and clear coated too. I also cleaned the stuff I was going to paint with a wire wheel and Alcohol. 1 can was enough for me with 3 coats on each of the 4. I still have plenty left. I took the brakes all apart and shot them. The calipers stayed on the brake lines, but I did hang them with a clothes hanger and I masked every thing off in the wheel well.
I removed the caliper and painted them, then painted the brackets a separate color. just used the caliper paint that you can get at autozone or equivalant store. also sealed it up with a high temp clear coat and no dust gets on them, and no problems with color distortion either.
