Default Just ordered tires, need some help

Hey my fellow LS1 buddies. Well, I just ordered my first set of Nitto 555R drag radials. My car is a 98 SS w/ a 3500 stall, lid, and catback. It has the 17x9 chrome wheels. I carefully read the forums in an effort to make the right tire size decision. I ended up choosing (2) 275's/40-17 because I understood this was the correct size for my wheels. I read that some folks are runnin 315's in the rear...now I dont want to bring up an old controversial issue. (though i would love to have wider tires but rather I would like to know if anyone can give me pics of how this setup looks. I just dont want my rear tires to be smaller than my front ones, which are also 275 (Bridgestone Potenza RE750s). Please guys, anyone w/ pics. of this setup or just any wheels w/ a 275 nitto drag on the back show me some pics! I just dont wanna have a badass car w/ a goofy wide tire in the front narrower tire in the back look. Thanks guys.

p.s: i already did a search, lots of 315's but no 275 pics.

275/40ZR17 tires are perfect for the 9" wheel. If you want a "wider" 275, don't buy cheap Nittos . . . .

Nitto's are not God's answer to tires . . . .

Agreed, Nitto's arent God's answer to tires, still these are the tires I am choosing...i keep looking at them (Nitto 555r 275/40-17) and they just seem so damn narrow..im going to the shop today to mount them. In the event that they are too narrow for my taste I will go this route: buy (2) 17x11 chrome zr1 and a set of 315/35-17 Nittos. So that being an option, anywhere know where i can get two 17x11 chrome zr1's for a fair price. I checked ebay and could only find the weird looking ones with the weird lip. Well, does anyone know where I can get them. I am on a 800 budget for 2 chrome 17x11 zr1's and 2 315/35-17 nitto 555r dr's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 315/35 17 Nittos will be wider than the 275/40 17 Bridgestones. The 275/40 17 Nittos will probably be narrower than your front Bstones. I do know that the Nittos in 245/50 16 are MUCH more narrow than the same size Goodyear GSC, but that is one extreme to the other (the narrowest tire in that size vs. the widest of that size). Bottom line, Nittos are narrow for their given size!

well folks i went ahead and saw the 275/40-17 nittos for myself. i cant say they were much narrower than my bstones because in all honesty, they weren't. i decided to remove the screws out of my tires (bstones) and it turns out that my tires are just fine! sweet, the screws got the thick of the thread and didnt puncture anything. now that this is done, i will still be gettin new tires..just as i had planned all along...but something a bit more evil like...17x11 Chrome ZR-1'S w/ 315 Nittos...cant wait
thanks for the input guys!

If you want a nitio type tire that is wider. Look at the Goodyear GS-D3. Comes in 315 if you still want to go 17X11 out back.

the 315 gs-d3's make the 315 nittos look like 255's
