suggestions on tire size

Im looking to replace my rear tires with a wider tire. I curently have stock chrome 02 z28 rims. Thr size is 245/50/16. how wide can I go? Is 265 too big? Id like to put a set of Kumho Ecsta MX on. Any and all info would be appreciated.

255/50ZR16 is the widest you should go.

what u cant fit a bigger tire than 255 under the car or what? Im running 295s on my 8 inch rims..

Becasue a 295 is not meant to be run on a 8" wheel . . .

What the hell is the point of running a 295 which is an 11 1/2" wide tire on a 8" wheel? The sidewalls would be so distorted the total width of the tread will not touch the ground . . .

255/50ZR16 is the largest RECOMMENDED tire for a 8" wheel . . . .
