1/2 inch longer and you should still be able to get them in i bet...hammering them out though...???? maybe they will come out easy---only about a 1/4- 1/2 inch is whats keeping them in i think..

Please do not try to hit them out with a hammer... no telling what kind of damage you will do to the diff. Pulling the axle is pretty easy. Jack the car up, remove wheel, remove caliper and rotor, remove ABS sensor, remove diff cover and drain fluid, push in azle and remove the c-clip, pull out the axle. It's about 30 min worth of work to remove both of the rear axles. The fronts are a different story, I dont know how to remove the spindles, couldnt be too hard.

air hammer/chisel would work...lotsa work to remove axles for just studs....hammering -it certainly is not that great of an idea...

My question is what length are the stock studs... ARP had 2.5" and 3.25" studs. Also, with longer studs won't you need a longer lug nut, or an open end lug, unless you run a spacer of course.

I would think they have to be 2 1/2 " ...anything less doesn't sound right..can't look right now though.

truthfully man i dont think they look bad at all. you dont want them out to the edge of the fenderwell, then you'll see too much tire. they need to tuck a little.

pulling the rear axle is a lot of work just to push the wheel out. if you use a spacer, get them that much longer than the stock stud so you can use the same lug nuts. if not you'll just have to use an open lug and that'll look weird.

ya Screamin94Z, I was going to match the length of the studs with the thickness of the spacer but.. I am strongly considering not messing with it.. Mainly because I don't want to do all of this work and then get a stupid vibration or wobble. Thats a lot of work and money to fix a stupid problem. I guess I should have done more research on the backspace and offset of the Z06s but...I assumed since everyone is running these now, they would just fit great. Thats what I get for assuming.

WELL, I ended up NOT installing spacers. The reason is that the ARP studs for late model GM have a slightly larger spline shaft on them and the axles and the hubs would require drilling. Not to mention the studs are 2.5" long which is about a half inch longer then what I needed. SO instead of drilling stuff and cutting off excess studs..I decided to leave it as is and live with it.. Kind of dissappointed but...Not much I can do. BTW the wheels are 54mm off set for those interested.. Here is a few pics after I put it all back together.

Ferocity, the fronts are 275/40s and the rears are 315/35 Nittos which run a little small.

I just found out my old centerline wheels(the ones that fit really good) were 17x9.5" w/7" backspace and a 44mm offset. SO that means my new Z06 wheels with the 54mm offset are sunk in about 7/16"(10mm) more then my old combo. Guess I gotta live with it but it makes the tires seem smaller then they are.
