Default wheel weights

I have wheel weights on the outside of my rims. I am gonna remove the clearcoat and do some polishing(stock wheels). They can be rebalanced with the weight on the inside only, correct? Why do they put them on the outside from the factory?

Yes, they can use sticky weights on the inside of the rim to rebalance, so you won't have any weights showing on the face of the wheel.

Many new cars are coming this way from the factory now.

It's a better balance.

I have my weights on the inside of my C5 wheels using the rim type (not sticky), but in extreme cornering they just barely nib the body of the car. It is probably better to have outter mounted weights.

Its not a better balance it just looks better. When I balance my wheels, I still use the press on weighs but only from the inside. I do not like using tape weighs but a lot of people still do. 90% of the people that come into our shop don't want them on the outside anyway. Plus it can scuff up the wheels pretty bad.

LOL...NO its a better balance. Makes me wonder how much a lot of so called mechanic's know at shops...not a better balance just looks better lol, think about it, why would they put wheel weights on the outside if it doesn't effect the balance?
