Thinking about making rims. Yeah, so I am thinking about designing some wheels, or better known as rims to me and my friends.
I'd like to know what is involved in designing and producing the entire thing.

a HUGE ASSLOAD of $$$$$$$$ really, a good cad design software cnc mill, wheel blanks and a lot of time plus it depends what type of alumnuim you want to make it out of too.

I would think that if you had access to a good machine shop, the skills to run the equipment and some blanks, you could turn out some wheels. But if you had this stuff, you probably wouldn't be asking this question.
You should probably just save up and buy some.

Well, I mean the whole idea behind it is having cutom rims. And what could be mroe custom than rims that nobody else has, becasue I was the only guy to make them?

try $60 to 120 grand for the mill, $15k for the software to design the parts, (Solidworks or similar) probably $75 a pop for some extruded wheel blanks, a few grand to have a 3-phase 240 volt circuit wired to your house, and LOTS and LOTS of time. I work in a machine shop making billet aluminum motorcycle parts all day every day, I can design stuff pretty well, but what you're talking about sure as hell won't be cheap. You're better off just going to a company that makes them, and paying 15 grand for a set of custom wheels.
