I think it's quite unique.

Ok I'm going to butt in here and give you some information on this.

You have to remember a few things here. The rear end can only be shortened so much before there are issues with the LCAs.

The car you pictured above is tubbed. He was a member here years ago, possibly on LS1.com as well. And thats when he started the project.

Lots of work involved. You can shorten the rear end, and go with probably a 4" lip out back. I'm doing something similar with my next set of iForged wheels on a 12 bolt. I'll shorten each side of the axle 1", and then have Vince build me the wheels with the custom offset.

I just want to let you know, that the process for something as drastic as that, isn't simple. I interpreted your words, in thinking that it was.

That car does not have stock style suspension. Those are 18x12 with a 6" lip

Thanks for the info and pics.

As far as how easy it would be, I'm just excited to know it can be done! That is the only car I've seen like that.

I wanted to know what people thought of the idea first. Not that I listen to anybody.

I may not even replace my rear. I may just get an extra rearend when I run across one at a good price and keep it as a back up.

I'm thinking the concept I invisioned just doesn't work as well with the double stepped TTII rims. Looks much better with that single step rim. I really don't feel like changing out all my rims just to get that extra little bit of lip. Doesn't seem worth it. Ehhh, still a nice idea.

If you narrowed the rear 2" or less each side it would look good. I think the other T/A was closer to a 4". You can see he even had to use offset spacers to move the LCAs in 1/2" to give him more room. Also as already said the car is also mini-tubbed, and if you look closely is not running a rear sway bar (probably because the endlinks wouldnt fit cuz the diff. is narrowed too much. I think Bad *** TA has the right idea with a 1" inch/side shortening. That's what I would do.

I think you and I think alike . I drooled over that car and was damn near ready to buy it too. Also, I have TT2's and always wanted to know the same thing you've brought up. Matter of fact, thanks for the photochop. I do think it is a little too deep for the type of center section that the TT2's have. The front and rear wheels don't look like they'd match. I'm with everyone else on this, add a couple more inches back and it'll probably look better.

The rim photo is real. It was a custom offset made for another car and I just put it over my rim. I've never seen any other custom offset TTII's, so that was the only picture I had to work with.

If the rim was an AR Rebel or a Boyd Smoothie 2 I think less dish would look really well. Anyway, it is fun to think up stuff like this. Thanks.

I'm thinking about getting my new 12 bolt narrowed 2.5 on each side, do a Wolfe mini tub, then run 15x10 with 5" backspacing for my drag wheels. I read somewhere that this could be done with mini tubs. I have a set of TTII's now with 17x11 out back and thinking when I do all this to maybe order a set to fit on the back. They would be deep dish but not sure on the backspacing or how it would all look till do it... if do it.
