I just got some falken ziexs 512 went with the 255/50/16 all i read is thats the biggest you can go, ive got some 245-50-16s on now. went to walmart to have them put them on, and the first tire he tried to put on he started to air it up and there was one corn/side of the wheel where it just wouldnt pop up like it was supposed to. so anyhow he beat it with a rubber mallet and let air in and out and couldnt get it to go on. has anyone else ever seen this? am i wrong about what ive read about the tires fitting on the stock 97 z28 5 spoke rims? tomorrow im going to try another place and see if they can get them on for me.

obviously the guy is a dumbass. he either didn't lube the tire up enough or put enough air pressure in it to seat the bead.
Sometimes you have to take the tire up to 80psi before the bead will seat.
and I found a set of 275/50/16s and run them. they arn't too wide at all.
many guys run 275/60/15s on a 7in wide wheel.

255s will fit no problem. ive mounted a set myself actually. problem is, wal mart doesnt usually use enough air pressure to seat really stiff side walls. i could normally coax them into seating but there were a couple i couldnt get no matter what i tried.

they hook like total ***, but i figured since all street tires arn't gonna hook for me, i'd atleast get some that make the car look cooler.

we just bought the Falken tires (245-50 front and 255-50 rear) for my wife's '99 Camaro. These tires are great for the money ($80/$82 each at DiscountTire)
The difference between the 245s and 255s is not huge, just enough to notice.
