Large rims affecting acceleration?

Some people seem to argue the weight of the wheels, but *from what I hear*, the bigger rims will mainly affect your traction. This being because of the paper thin tires used on the larger tires.

This is what I was originally asking.

If that's the case, should I stay with 17s all around, or should I sneak 18s in the back and be done with?
