Protective tape for wheels? I'm going to get the inside barrels of my wheels powder coated black and I would like to tape up the wheels myself prior to the coating (I wan't it done right). But I can't seem to find any protective tape specific for this application, perhaps it does not exist but I thought I would ask first.
What tape to use and where to get it?

regular painters tape won't hold up to the 450 degree bake cycle. I would call the place you are getting them powdercoated at. See if they give you the tape they prrefer to use?

This is correct... Powdercoaters can furnish a special tape for this. It worked well on an aluminum engine block I had powdercoated for a coffee table.

I did the same, The place that does the powder coating sold me some tape. It was a blue color, almost like a plastic texture. I'd see if they will sell it to you and that way you know it's the right stuff.
