Default 275-45-17 Question/Help

I am looking to to upgrade my wheels from the stock 16`s to chrome ZR-1 17-9.5 all around, my car is stock ride height and will be staying that way, my concern is the fender to tire gap. I know it really doesnt change much but I have seen a few Z-28`s that look like 4x4`s. Will going to 275-45-17 tires improve this some over the 40 series? If anyone has pics of their stock ride height Z-28 with this combo(17`` ZR-1, W/ 275-45-17) I would like to take a look. Thanks for any help.

It's the same overall height (a 245/45 17) as a 245/50 16 & 275/40 17, so the fender to tire gap will look the same. There is more sidewall showing (on the 245/45 17 vs. 275/40 17), so the fender to rim gap will appear to be greater. Maybe someone will post pics. A 9.5" wide rim is at the upper limit of a 245 width tire, so expect some stiff sidewalls and a rough (albeit responsive/good handling) ride. This will also NOT be a great combo for "launching", since that seems to be the MAIN concern of everyone on here.

you need to forget about the the 245's, with that size of rim, 17x9-9.5 you need 275's. 245's are for an 8" rim

Sorry I had a brain fart, I mean 275-45-17, I was just wondering if compared to the 40 series would it help with the appearance of the wheel to fender gap. Pics would be cool if anyone is running ZR-1`s with 275-45-17 on stock springs. Thanks for the responses!
