Default 285/40/17 ?

So I am looking into some 285/40/17's for the back, just dont know what to get and price. I was looking into the BFgoodrench g-force drag radial and the nitto 555R's. I allready have GS-d3's all around with 275/40/17's. Just was looking into somthing a bit diff. or maybe picking up the same ones just a bit bigger in the back if they make a 285 for the D3's. Any advice?

The price for the 285/40/17 Goodyear D3's is $212 each for tirerack.com . I found a good deal on some 285/40/17 Goodyear HP Ultra Plus tires. I have them on stock 17x9 SS Ten Spokes. The mounting is good, they're not a whole lot wider than 275's. Hope that helps.

Yeah im with ^ you really cant tell much of a difference I had some 275's on my vette and just added some 285's.Unless your rear are really worn out then I would upgrade but if they are ok I would leave them alone but its your car and your call.

To give you an idea of what the difference is the 285's should be about 10mm wider that the 275's. When you determine your 40 aspect ratio, that will equal to 25.7 inches tall for a 275 and a full 26 inches for 285.

I'm planing to get 285s next time for my 17X9 wheels. I'll go with the 285/40/17 BFG KDW tire.

I've seen some 275 front/285 rear combos on stock 17X9 wheels, and to me I can clearly see the difference. But I tend to notice all the little things.

I put a set of 285's on my friends fire hawk and we could see the difference when i set the lift down and sat ot on the old tire prints on the clean painted floor! So we could see how much wider it was! Not much but you can see the difference!

Do you think it will be ok to mix up brands front and back? Like say BFG in the back and my D3's on the front?

That is my exact set-up.
