Fat & Skinnies
Fat & Skinnies On my 99 WS6 I am thinking about getting the weld draglite knockoffs w/ 26x7.7s up front and the drag radials in back, BUT I have to take a trip right after getting them, so I am planning to get cheap tires on the back, and essentially just burn up a set of skinnies, MY only concern is are the skinnis safe for a long roadtrip?? I realize they wont handle like 275s, but more importantly can they take a long haul? And then when I get back, I will get my DRs and nw skinnies. Thanks for the help 
Its about a 1500 mile trip each way...i know its not the smartest idea..i need tires and i wanna get my wheels and tires now...just curious how long they usually hold up for..
Well the skinny tires themselves should last you a while. Most of them (esp radials) are a hard compound that will last a long time. I'd search around for a 165/70/15 kuhmo radial, they're cheap and should last the trip + several more thousand miles.
I would not be worried about the tires lasting, but driving the distance on that size wheel. It won't be fun having to baby it the whole way..what happens if you have to swerve or brake suddenly? You're fucked.
