Default How difficult is changing front wheel studs?

Just wondering what's involved with changing the front wheel studs to the longer arp type. Looking into getting some weld skinnies with 5/16" spacer, and just wanted some feedback on the job.

Thanks

Not hard at all. Remove caliper/rotor. Hammer stud out the back, pull stud through using high TQ impact and a heavy duty nut.

ok sounds easy, i thought i remember reading that the hub had to be taken off and a press used....that must be the service manual method...i like the real world method!

thanks!

You can do that method too, which isn't much more difficult.

Best way to do it is to take the hubs off and find someone with a press to do it. If you use any other method, id recomend against using an impact gun as that could stress the studs. Also be sure to use a hub-centric spacer.

Agreed. When you pull the studs on via nut, you have a very good chance of stretching them too far of which you alter the integrity of the alloy.

Never over-torque any bolt... If you can pull the studs on with a torque wrench less then 75lbs, then you'll probably be ok...only problem is, they more then likely won't go on without applying a far greater force.
