Wider Tires

could i run a 285 40 17 on my zr1's i kno my car came stock with 275's but, i was looking for something a tad bit wider thanks in advance .

if its a 9'' or 9.5'' wheel, I would go no bigger than 285.

they are 9 wide wheels i just wanna kno if it would look stupid or not ??? Also i dont want the side wall height to change at all ??

If they are only a 9'', I would stay with the 275's then. The sidewall would stay the same, 40, but I would still keep the 275's cuz 285 might buldge if they are wide. Goodyear and BFgoodrich tires seem to be a bit on the wider side, so go with one of those in a 275 if you dont already have um. Otherwise, get a wider rim in the back if you want to be safe and go wider. You will lose sidewall stiffness with the wider tire on the smaller wheel and therefore, lose some cornering ability if that matters to you. Some people do run a 285 on a 9'', but that is a choice and not a recomendation.
