Polish stock rims?

Ok search is not working, so heres my question

I have the stock 97 WS6 polished wheels here is an example

the clear coat has peeled off the wheels in certain areas. I can polish them to a certain degree with hard elbow grease and a large powerball from mothers.

But I heard that there is a way to remove the clear coat and mirror polish the aluminum underneath.
I have been debating on whether I should buy new rims or buy more go fast parts. I would rather re-polish these and go fast

Any suggestions
