Default recomended tire size?

In the guideline thread at the top, it reccomends no more than a 245 tire on an 8" wide wheel. according to goodyear factory reccomendation, i could fit up to a 295/50/15 tire on a 15x8 rim. ive got 215/70/15's on the front of my s-10, and it looks stupid because they are taller and have more sidewall than my 245/60/15 rears. im looking at new tires in summit and the reccomended rim size for the 295 is 8-10", for 275 its 7.5-9.5. are they throwing those numbers out to sell more tires or could i really fit 295's? thanks for the help. my truck has 15x7 tt2's up front and 15x8 tt2's in the rear.
