what kind of suspension do you have. if you have stock springs and shocks, and in good shape (not blown or worn out), 315s wont rub. i put them on the back of my WS6 TA, drove around for a while, went over some bumps and took tight corners. no rubbing or anything. now i have Konis and strano springs, so a fender rolling is needed before putting 315s on again.

I have a stock suspension. I have read some post with other guys on stock suspensions who have had a problem. I would rather not shave the bump stops and hammer away if I don't have to.

if you have and plan on keeping the stock suspension, then youll be fine. you dont have to shave the bumpstops. just when you jack the car to change the 315 rears, make sure you jack it from the axle or suspension mount, instead of the body/frame.

What size rim? Stock 16" or 17" ws6? What Back space numbers? Why bother side walls gonna buldge, and contact patch reduced. I have 305's on 18 x 10 stock zo6 rims w/ 1/8" spacer, but still had to do slight BFH mod on lower front inside fender well.

No for 305's or 315 you almost have to have at least a 10 inch rim, but preferrably 11-11.5 inch. That would be plain stupid and dangerous on stock size or even 9 inches.

If you have a the ZR1 17x11 rim yes the 315 tire and rim will rub. The tire will rub the inner fender well and the rim will hit the bumpstop if you jack it up by the body like most shops do because they have the swing arm lifts. I would think a 18" rim with a 315 would also rub. I have the ZR1's and they rub and hit the bumpstop. I had stock suspension and an adj phb and they still rubbed. I cut the bumpstops out and beat the inner fender well and they still rubbed so I beat some more. They don't rub anymore.

he has a pontiac......pontiacs have a little extra room in the wheel well. what backspacing do the rims have that youre looking at? the best for a poncho with a 17x11 rim is 36mm. the typical offset is call the Grand Sport offset, which is i think 54mm. with a 36, youll fit just fine. i have personally put a 54mm, 17x11 rim with 315s on my rear, and it did NOT rub. (i have a TA). the bumbstop did hit when i jacked from the frame, but nothing too bad or to keep the tire from going on. if you keep your stock susp., and jack from the axle, i think youll be fine.

There are a few factors here.
If you have lowering springs then yes they are pretty much going to rub. Also the brand of tire matters. My lowered SS & T/A had zero problems with 315 Nitto 555R's, but when I bought 315 BF Goodrich G-Force KD's they rubbed good. And another factor is the wheels offset (There are 2 kinds of ZR1 offsets).
You need not worry about the bump-stop, mine are still there and just fine. You have to roll the fenders and beat in the wheel well at a spot in front of the wheel. (If you lower your car)
Only thing about the bumps-stops is that if you want to take a wheel off jack up the rear end by the axle. On an angle the bump-stop will catch the inner wheel.
I can't say for sure on stock ride height becuase I never had 315's on stock height.
Peace,
Craig.
