Default Rear 17x11 36mm offset - will this work?

I'm about to purchase some slicks for the track. Using normal street tires are not sticky enough. My question is can I put a 17x11 36mm wheels on the back. This way the slick would be 315/35 R17's. The car is lowered with a pro kit. Has anyone else had this size? I just dont want to launch and pop the tire by rubbing.

Firebirds do have wider wheel wells than a Camaro, the 36 MM offset fit, but IMHO barely, and since you are lowered most like will have tire/lip contact issues.

I ran that combo for a while and I was lowered with 2". I never really hooked that hard(2.0), but it did cut the tire a little.
