265/40 or 295/35 for traction
I have had the 295's and they seem to work very good. Could launch a Z06 on the street with no problem. I dont know about the 265's. The height of the 265's is not that much taller the the 295's.

About 400 rwhp. On motor the car would pretty much dead hook with alittle clutch working. On a 150 tnt it would spin first but not second. If I rolled out to about 4000 rpm in first then hit it, it would stay hooked. Another friend of mine had them on his Z06 and had good luck with them. The width of the tire is very noticable between the two. Right now I have 265-40-18's street tires on my Mustang. The 295's are about an inch wider. The 295 sits completely flush on a 10.5 Z06 wheel with alittle bulge.

see blacktransam has them on his C5 wagon wheels which are 9.5" and said they sit flush and dont bulge.all i want is to be able to hook 2nd.i did the math and the 295's are an inch wider contact patch like u said.the 265's have about 3mm's more height on them so im assuming thats 6mm since theres a top and bottom for each sidewall but i dunno how much 6mm would affect anything.

I'm going to vote 295 but alot of traction issues could be due to alot of other issues: Temperature, wear, tread design, PSI in tires, Pavement, Suspension and even shocks.
I am on 315/35R17 Nitto 555r's, with Strano Springs and Stock Shocks. I hook better with the 315's but at normal to higher speeds the shocks don't force the tires to grab at all! I feel much more comfortable with my stock 275's, stock springs and stock shocks at normal to higher speeds than I do at the moment.
