Default Tires for an LT1

Hi guys:
I have a 95 LT1 that I just changed a couple tires. Now, for the rear I want to go with a tire that I can use for everyday and that will give me some serious grip. The reason I want to change the tire is that when Im completely idle and I floor the car I loose couple of seconds just in trying to control the car and in burning rubber. I lose so much power right at the beginning. What are the suggestions? My current tires are 275/45/17 Hankook Ventus(which Im planning move to the front and then use the racing ones for the rear). Thanks, Roger

Nitto Drags work well for street use. For serious gription, try out some M/T ET Street Radials!!

Would those allow me to floor the pedal at the start without loosing grip? Also what is your experience with Pacesetter LTs? They seem priced right but my local shop says they sometime leak, have you had any problems??Thanks, Roger

Keep in mind that you will be replacing the M/Ts sooner than you would the Nittos. But if you aren't worried about that then get the Mickeys

For a stock, nearly stock (very few bolt-ons), The Mickeys will give you the grip you're looking for. The nittos will not hold up to a dead stop launch, they will probabbly spin a little bit, especially when they are not heated up.

The mickeys will wear more quickly however. If you do more daily driving than racing, go with Nittos, and just don't expect to yank the wheels at a stoplight...learn to feather the throttle until you can go WOT.

Any headers will leak after time, just make sure that after a few heat cycles on the headers, you re-tighten all the bolts! My pacesetters have only leak a few times, and it was not due to the header warping, but just a bolt backing out.
