Question about backspacing and a narrowed rearend

I have a 9in that is narrowed 1 1/4" on each side and am trying to figure out what backspacing to go with on some custom made TTII's. I am going to go with 17x9.5 in the rear and the standard backspacing on that wheel is 7". Do I just take an 1 1/4" off of that or should it be more since it always seems that the rear wheels on these cars kind of sit inside a little anyway. If anyone has done this before please let me know your thoughts.

Taking off the 1.25" would be safe . . . If you wanted the wheel to move outwards a bit take off 1" from the standard backspace.

Well I ordered my rear wheels yesterday with 5 3/4" backspacing. I guess I will find out how it looks in 6 to 8 weeks

. Good thing it's winter, still going to drive me nuts waiting though.
