You can run a weld center cap on them, they're just a lil bigger than the welds. I tried it on some jegs brand fronts I had for a while, and they use the same diameter center. Sorry no pics though. The jegs are heavier, at like 17 lbs each, the summit fronts are a tad lighter and weigh 14.7 lbs each, the rears weigh about 18 lbs each. Front BS is 1.75, rear is 5.5 on the 8s. They really are a good fitting value for the money.

Probably a little more metal in the hub area to allow the use of standard lugs.

not sure if thats the only place. 5# is a lot of metal. thats almost a 1/3 of a wheel(summit) and almost half of a weld.

I don't know where you're getting 'half of a weld'. 15x3.5 prostars are 10 lbs each, the summits are 14.7. The 15x10 welds are 18 lbs, same as the 15x8 summit wheels. My point is that its all relevant to what you're doing and trying to accomplish. If you're an all out racer going for the best possible ET and half a tenth is a win or loss, but all means go for the lightest wheels you can find.

But...I bet you wouldn't see more than .05 gain in the 1/4 between a set of weld prostar 15x3.5 fronts or the summit brand 15x4 fronts with the same mickey thompson 1573 sportsman front tires on both of them on the average street car.

Reason being...I ran my car last season with some borrowed centerline convo pros and 165 radials on them and also went out a couple times with 17x9.5 fronts and 275 tires on them. The weight difference was an easy 40-45 lbs off the front end. I gained 2 tenths with the skinnies. Similar weather conditions, Yippie.

We all know everyone and their dog drives a 15x3.5 prostar on the street. Honestly I'd rather have the structural rigidity of a 1 piece wheel on the street over a 2 piece.

But then again, mine's just a street car, but most of the cars on this site are

the difference in weight is roughly 5# a wheel. a weld weighs 10#. the difference in wheel weights is half of what a weld weighs.10-5=5, yes?

your right about the gain between the summit and weld wheel, but to some people it does matter. thats why i posted. not to discredit the summit wheels. you arent going to find a better bang for the buck, especially if you just use them for the track. they loook much better than salad shooters with slicks mounted on them.

2 tenths is a HUGE gain, street car or race car. substancial difference.
