Default The truth about Greg Weld and Weld Racing

I have always enjoyed browsing the LS1TECH boards and reading the various threads, but this is my first "official" post as a member. Because there are so many posts speculating what is happening with Greg Weld and Weld Racing, I thought I would jump in, clear up some of the rumors floating around and try and answer some of your questions in regards to the new Greg Weld Wheels.

We are in full production with the wheels...... NOTHING or NO ONE will stop us. The 15 inch wheels will be available the 3rd week in Feburary.

It is true that American Racing is suing us. It's sad that you can sue anyone for anything. We are prepared and we will, fight this to the end. AR does not have a leg to stand on....I will get into this on another thread.

FACTS

1. Greg Weld sold Weld Racing to American Racing In October of 2006
2. Greg Weld Wheels is a new company with new products that competes directly with American Racing and Weld Racing
3. Neither Greg Weld or myself signed or are under any kind of non compete with American Racing
4. We are not currently doing business with Forgitron.
5. The Greg Weld facility is located in Kansas City, MO
6. We Are working with ALCOA on some of our forged products.
7. The Dragstar name is a trademark of Greg Weld
8. Greg Weld designed the Weld Racing Prostar and Draglite in 1982. The new Greg Weld Dragstar and Prolite are completely re-engineered and improved variations of his original Prostar and Draglite wheels.
9. The new Dragstar and Prolite are LIGHTER and STRONGER than the original designs
10. No spacers are utilized in the new designs
11. YES these wheels were engineered to fit the 4th generation cars
12. YES stock studs will work
13. Yes the wheels will clear the calipers with NO grinding necessary.
14. Greg Weld Wheels are NHRA and IHRA legal

I am sure I have missed a few questions so, please feel free to ask away and I will update this thread on a daily basis.

Thanks for your interest.....

Boyd Coddington Jr.

Thanks for the info Boyd! Are you going to be building street or autox/road racing wheels too? I don't know the circumstances behind American Racing (under Platinum Equity) buying out Boyd and Weld, but it's good you're back in the business!

Perhaps you can become a sponsor once you get your products ready for sale.

Nice!! Thanks for the info, I will definitely be looking into these in the spring when I'm on the search for a drag setup. The fact that these will fit without spacers/grinding is awesome, can't wait!

That is great news. Could we possibly get a list of available backspacing also?
The last .pdf file I saw did not have very many backspacing options.
Thanks and welcome to LS1tech.
