15" wheels?
15" wheels? I am trying to understand all this. I borrowed some 15" wheels from a 3rd gen and they fit the rear. If these fit without grinding, why don't other 15s? Could I get a 15x10 TT2 with custom backspacing of 6" to fit? or a 15x8 with 5.25" backspacing?
I want to get taller sidewall and more tire options for the rear, that is why I want a 15" wheel on there. I do not want to grind much though...

They don't fit because of the way the wheels are made. Just look at how tight the stock 16" rims are. Its literally a 1/8" gap from the brakes to hitting wheel in spots. now take 1" away from that. its not hard to understand at that point why many 15" rims won't work.. also factor in that most drag rims were designed back when cars had drum brakes small enough to clear 13" rims or that the rim was designed to be a universal type fitment where they make them to clear the most brakes but can't guarantee everything. Heck many modern cars now days can't even run less than a 17 or 18" wheel because MFG's are running 14" rotors and multiple piston calipers with large overhangs on them. Just the way the brakes on cars are these days.
