Tire suggestions

Tire suggestions I currently drive a 2002 Camaro SS w/ federal 595ss tires. These tires are a very hard compound meant for drifting. The only problem is i live in the city and this makes everyday driving a drag. Every little pothole or small bump in the road gets amplified into my cars suspension.
Basically I wanna hear some input from you guys on a softer compound. I need these tires to be affordable though. I'm on a strict college kid budget and i have around 500 to spend.
The tire size i believe is 275 40 17's. I don't want these tires to be super sticky b/c i'm still running a 10bolt rear (yea i know it blows). Anyways I installed 4.10's in the rear. If I put really sticky tires on I know the rear will probably break.
Any suggestions are appreciated...

Vredestein tires from Tomzwheels. Sponsor>>>>>>>>> but if you want REALLY cheap, you could get the sumitomos i you arent looking for a very sticky tire. And I think they run about 400 bucks?
