Default which tire size?

I have the factory 275/40s 17 on my 2002 camaro ss and was thinking about putting 285/40 17s on the back what are the pros and cons of doing this besides not being able to rotate them,it is not my daily driver and will it look stupid. The car is not lowered and runs 12.33@114mph,was doing this for extra traction.THANKS.

10mm difference is not much and depending on the tire choice may not yield any positive difference. i don't think it would be worth it since you wouldn't be able to rotate the tires.

i'd go ahead and lower the car since stock height tires on a stock height car looks horribly high. but going from a 275 to a 285 is not going to look much different or any at all.

If you want 285's do front and rear. Like said above, just don't expect to see a real big difference from 275's

i personally wouldnt add any more meat to the front, if traction is what your looking for seriously...look into a 300 series...not sure why guys are putting anything bigger then a 275 on the front

are you serious?

for the street or drag strip, this may be true (and i would agree), but for auto-x/road racing, HUGE gains can be had by going larger up front....some people even go up to a 315 up front. even so, most people will notice more gain from changing from street tires to an R-compound, even if they're the same size, and in some cases, even if the R-compounds are smaller. but 315-width R-compounds on all 4 corners would just be SICK.
