what size tires to get ok i picked upmy y2ks now im trying to decide what rubber to put on them. the front is 17x8.5 and the rear are 18x9.5...i was thinking 285/40/18 for rear and 245/45/17 for front

to keep the overall tire height as close to the same as stock as you possibly can (without using stock-sized wheels), go with 245/45-17's up front and 275/35-18's in back.
the only thing going up from a 275 to a 285 in back is going to do is throw your (already inaccurate) speedometer off....you're not really going to notice any traction gain from that small of an increase, and proabably won't even be able to see the difference, either.

no it's not, according to the sticky post, a 9.5" wheel can fit tires from 255 - 285. a 9" wheel will only fit up to 275.
but that brings to attention what i said about the 315's, those definitely won't work on a 9.5" wheel....they will require a 10.5" wheel to fit.

thanks ya i looked at the sticky and then looked and saw what the corvette came with stock which was what i listed, you dont think 35 will be ti slim and effect ride quality? just curious
not enough to make it not worth it.
as long as the overall tire height is the same, you'd have to start getting into 19" wheels or higher before real issues with ride quality start coming into play, and even then, 19's can be set up to still ride good.....you'll be ok with 17's/18's
