Drag Wheels
It also depends on what wheel you’re comparing regarding strength comparisons. We've got many types of drag wheels, different build, and different designs. Just because you may know someone whose wheel has broke, doesn't mean it is more susceptible to breaking vs. another manufactures drag wheel. I know a few people right off the top with direct experience of my head whose prostars cracked. I don't track their wheel failures either. I'm sure there's many more. I would go on record stating that the VERY few folks that have needed their wheels repaired we do not leave them high and dry telling them to pound salt.
I am not giving excuses. No one likes to see failures. I certainly don't. Racing places high demands on components. Things break. If you build something to be completely bullet proof, sometimes you lose the main benefits of the components intent. There's a fine line of being safe, reliable and providing benefits to the racer.
Actually for what its worth, if you're pulled over and you have a wheel that states clearly "for drag use only", your car can be towed AND you ticketed for using improper unsafe wheels on the street. Its a real clear-cut ticket and fine. (on top of whatever you may have been pulled over for...or even the fact that police know the wheels and what they state on them). This would be no different then if you were using a slick on the street which is not street approved.
Our Bogart wheels are marked on the inside of the wheel shells (where an inner tube would be) so not to deter from the wheels appearance (not to hide anything). I suppose if you were pulled over and you were using our wheels on the street against our recommendations, you may save yourself a ticket or towing as there is nothing visible on the outside surfaces of the wheels.
