Drag radial guys
I need traction, and need tires. I just don't know what brand to buy nad I don't know if they will work much better with the 4.30 gear. I'm beginning to think that I'm gonna have to go with 15X8's and a 275/60/15 in order to get traction on the street everyday.
Another question-
For people with skinnies- What size front rims are you running? How bad is it to drive every day on them?
My point is this:
I need traction, bad. The power and gearing are there, but the car will not hook. I would prefer to just run a DR, but I'm thinking it won't work. So my next choice is to run 15's, but I don't know if I'm willing to drive around on skinny's. I don;t think the wider 15" tires look good on the front. I did see that SS in the new GMHTP with the 17" skinny Bogarts on the front, and that was badass looking, but I don't know how well a Bogart would fare on day to day driving.
What should I do?
IMHO 4.30's are too much gear for the street, but excellent at the track.
IMHO 4.30's are too much gear for the street, but excellent at the track. Why do you say that they are too much for the street? I actually enjoy driving the car much more now. (except for the lack of traction from a dig) Granted I can't freeway race anymore, but I never really enjoyed that anyway. I've doen 170mph, and it's cool, but that's where people die and ****. I much prefer acceleration to top speed. The car runs great at 80mph, which where I cruise. At 80mph the cars running about 2200rpm in 6th. Gas mileage hasn't dropped significantly since the cam install. That was what killed my gas mileage.
Basically, after all was said and done, I more or less gave up 6th gear on the highway and gained an assload of acceleration on the street/ track. Just gotta get teh ****** to hook...
